Function

As full voting members on boards of health, provincial appointees actively participate in the governance of a board of health, where their role is to ensure that the decision-making process is fair, equitable and just and that the board of health fulfills its legal, fiscal and fiduciary mandates and obligations

Membership

The board is composed of between three and thirteen municipal members and one or more members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council. The number of Lieutenant Governor in Council appointees shall be less than the number of municipal members.

Term

Members serve for terms of one, two or three years. When a member is unable to complete a term of office, a new member is appointed to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term.

Meetings

The health unit is designated as the Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry and the United Counties of Prescott and Russell. There are twelve meetings a year held on the third Thursday of the month at the unit's offices. Some preparation time is required.

Remuneration

Appointees to the Health Unit Board are paid by the Health Unit.
