At the direction of the Minister, the Council shall advise the Minister on, a) the process for the development of accessibility standards and the progress made by standards development committees in the development of proposed accessibility standards and in achieving the purposes of the Act; b) accessibility reports prepared under this Act; c) programs of public information related to this Act; and d) all other matters related to the subject-matter of this Act that the Minister directs.At the direction of the Minister, the mandate of the Accessibility Standards Advisory Council may be expanded to cross-appoint its members to a standards development committee (see standards development committee terms of reference for further direction on associated roles and responsibilities).
There is no limitation in legislation. ASAC shall be comprised of 15 members plus a Chair, with additional members, as required, appointed at the discretion of the Minister. The Minister may designate one of the members to AODA as vice-chair, who would perform the duties of the Chair in their absence, as required.
