MICHAEL RAS

Michael Ras is Director of Government & Stakeholder Relations at Meridian Credit Union. Prior to this role, Michael was the Executive Director for the Federation of Ontario Law Associations. Also, he was an instructor (part-time) in the Government Relations Post-Grad Certificate program at Seneca College. His community involvement includes formerly serving as a board member for the Kids’ Internet Safety Alliance (2006-2017). From 2012-2016, he served as the Vice Chair of the Greater Toronto Market Alliance. He presently serves on two volunteer boards for Radius Children & Youth Services.

SARAH LAWSON

Sarah Lawson has a Bachelor of Science from McMaster University and graduated from Queen's University with a Juris Doctor. Called to the bar in 2009, she is a criminal defence lawyer who practices primarily in the Halton and Hamilton regions. Active in the community, she is a past board member of Welcome Inn Community Centre, a non-profit organization in the north end of Hamilton. She currently serves as the Halton director on the board of the Ontario Criminal Lawyers' Association.

JP MCAVOY

Jeffrey (JP) McAvoy practices corporate and commercial law at Conduct Law. Called to the bar in 2001, he received his LL.B from Queen’s University in 1999. He represents a diverse range of corporations throughout Canada, the United States, and Eastern Asia. Prior to commencing private practice, he was a founding employee of Silicon Valley start-up Zip2, which was sold to Compaq and later merged with Alta Vista. In addition to practicing law, he is a contributing writer for the New Economy Watch, hosts a popular legal podcast and is a founding member of the North Dundas Business Centre.

KARLENE NATION

Karlene Nation is a media and communications specialist with OneNationPR Inc. in Toronto. she founded OneNationPR Inc. in 2014. She has 25-years experience in broadcast news and corporate communications. Her specialty is generating media coverage for businesses and, promoting innovative products, organizing events, and advising companies on how to manage media related crisis issues. We do media training for businesses and private organizations. We teach companies how to manage their media messaging. She worked with CTV Toronto as a reporter, writer and producer from 1993-2014. From 2000 to 2012, she was appointed to the position of CTV’s Diversity Producer tasked with expanding CTV’s viewership in ethnocultural communities across Canada. As Diversity Producer, she created a database with more than three thousand contacts within ethnocultural communities, LGBTQ groups and people with disabilities. She organized editorial board meetings bringing together community groups with CTV’s senior news managers. She is a popular motivational speaker who spoke at elementary, high schools, colleges and universities across Ontario. She hosted more than 80 charitable events supporting youth initiatives over the course of my 21-year career at CTV. She was instrumental in getting hundreds of inner-city students to visit CTV for an hour-long tour where they got to see the behind the scenes workings of the local and national news programs. Ms. Nation is a regular political commentator on AM 640 shows including the John Oakley Show, Tasha Kheiriddin’s Show, Alex Pierson’s Show. She isa regular commentator on Sirius XM Radio and commented on politics at CP24, Global TV’s Morning Show and Newstalk 1010.

JOHN HENDERSON

John W. Henderson has provided communications services for businesses and non-profit agencies throughout Northwesten Ontario since 1979. Now semi-retired he is involved with numerous local organizations including The North Shore Steelhead Association, Port Arthur Hunt Club and is an avid outdoorsman. Mr. Henderson acts as a mentor through the Community Economic Development Corporation and has had significant work experience with Indigenous economic development in the region. ln addition to degrees from Lakehead University, he holds an Advanced Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution from Windsor University.

NESTOR PRISCO

Nestor Prisco was appointed Sheriff in 1974. For 31 years, he managed all court operations in Nipissing and Parry Sound Judicial Districts. His community involvement has included serving on North Bay City Council, 49 years with the Rotary Club of North Bay, President with the Bliss-Gillmor Non-Profit Housing Complex Inc., Treasurer, MacKay Homes for Seniors, Huron University College Board (London, Ontario) and the Nipissing Parry Sound District Housing Authority. Mr. Prisco holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Queen's University.

RODI-LYNN RUSNICK-KINISKY

Rodi-Lynn Rusnick-Kinisky acts as Senior Review Counsel with Lakehead University Community Legal Services where she supervises law students in providing various legal services to qualifying individuals. She also engages in public legal education for community members on tenants' rights issues. Ms. Rusnick-Kinisky serves on the Thunder Bay Law Association Board of Directors and is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada. Ms. Rusnick-Kinisky holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from Lakehead University and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Western Ontario.

LAURENCE TULLOCH

Laurence Tulloch is a retired educator who has served as a teacher and principal with the Lakehead District School Board, as a supervisory officer/secretary treasurer with the Summer Beaver District School Board, as an instructor for principal qualification programs and as an instructor in the master of education program at Lakehead University. Mr. Tulloch’s community work has included the Rotary Club of Thunder Bay, the Thunder Bay International Baseball Association, the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Staal Foundation Open PGA Golf Tournament. He holds a Master of Education degree from Lakehead University.

RICHARD BRENNAN

Richard Brennan is a former Political reporter at Toronto Star. His community involvement includes serving as an Auxiliary Constable at The Ontario Provincial Police. He has a Diploma in Journalism from Mohawk College.
