Ontario Police Arbitration Commission

SIG WALTER

is a long time labour relations practitioner having conciliated, mediated and arbitrated hundreds of rights grievances and interest collective bargaining disputes in the public and private sectors. He has held positions as Sr. Vice President, Human Resources & Client Appeals, Ontario Workers' Compensation Board; Vice Chair, Ontario Public Service Grievance Board; Vice President, Industrial Relations and Manufacturing for then Westank-Willock; and, Executive Director, Industrial Relations Division, Saskatchewan Department of Labour. Mr. Walter has conciliated more than 350 police rights and interest disputes for the Ontario Police Arbitration Commission. He is currently Chair of the Commission.

JOHN MCTAGGART

John McTaggart is a life-long resident of Northwestern Ontario. He was born and raised in Atikokan. After short stays in Calgary and Kenora him and his wife relocated to Fort Frances 45 years ago. They proudly raised their two daughters in Fort Frances. His working career spanned over 4 decades managing a long-established family clothing, footwear and sporting goods chain in 6 area communities. The business employed a staff of over 70 talented people. In 2022 the company celebrated 100 years. In 2018 he sold the company and in 2020 he retired from retail. Him and his wife have a rich history of community involvement on town committees and boards and community boards. He is proud to have successfully built and worked with great teams on an international bass fishing competition, a large hospital fund raising campaign and a town backed community clinic. He has been a volunteer fire fighter and a long-term Police Services Board member. Currently he is in a second term on the Fort Frances municipal council.

PATRICK WEAVER

Patrick Joseph Weaver is a financial consultant with 35 years' experience in small business management. Mr. Weaver has been involved and led a number of community focused initiatives over the last 25 years including a position on the Thamesville volunteer fire department, municipal councillor, United Way Board Chair, Co-Chair of YMCA capital project, and a Board Member with the Entegrus Utility Company. He was also awarded the Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of Confederation in 1992.

MARK BAXTER

Mark John Baxter is a police officer with the Brantford Police Service and is on a leave of absence from his policing duties as the full time President of the Police Association of Ontario. Mr. Baxter holds a Police Foundations Diploma from Fanshawe College.
