Fish and Wildlife Heritage Commission

MIKE READER

is a Retired Executive Director for Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters. His community involvement includes formerly serving as Board Member and Chair of Finance Committee for Wildlife Habitat Canada.

JOHN MCDONALD

John McDonald is experienced in leadership and program administration roles as the former mayor of Sioux Lookout, Ontario and a former board member and Chair for Sioux Lookout Hydro. He brings a wealth of knowledge of the tourism industry in Northwestern Ontario as the former owner/operator of Sioux Lookout Fly-in Camps, where he operated fly-in fishing and hunting outpost camps for nearly 10 years. John also spent the first 23 years of his career working in Fish and Wildlife Management with the Ministry of Natural Resources, holding positions in enforcement, fisheries management and as the supervisor for the lands management program. John has also been a registered trapper for over 30 years and an avid angler and hunter all of his adult life.

GORD MITCHELL

Gord Mitchell has been the owner/operator of Island Lake Lodge since 1976. He has been a member of the Big Game Advisory Committee since 1998 and is currently a member of Nature and Outdoor Tourism Ontario, the Marten River Association of Tourist Camp Operators and the Zone 11 Fisheries Committee.

DEBBIE RIVARD

Debbie Rivard is retired. She previously worked in customer services at Central Canada Fuels/Can-op. She is Chair of OFAH Zone B and a Provincial Board member of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) for 18 years, the last 4 years on the Executive Committee. She was also the Chair of the OFAH Provincial Fisheries Advisory Committee and sat on the OFAH Provincial Small Game and Sporting Dogs Committee. She now sits on the Great Lakes Fisheries Commission as a Canadian Recreational Fisheries Advisor. Ms. Rivard is an avid angler and hunter as well as a trapper.

GREG FARRANT

Greg Farrant is a former special assistant to Whip, Solicitor General (1985-1990) and Minister of Education (1991-2001), and a former member of the City of Scarborough and City of Toronto Mayors and Council. His community involvement includes formerly serving as Chair for the Trent Hills Police Services Board.

JERRY WALKER

William Walker is a dealer/owner of Walkers Home Hardware in Haliburton with 30 employees, and formerly owned and operated an H.V.A.C company in Haliburton for 30 years employing upwards of 15 people. His community involvement includes serving in a Rotary Club member 30+ years, member of the Minden Fish and Wildlife Advisory Committee to the MNR for over 10+ years, volunteer firefighter for 10 years and a Municipal council member for 2 terms.

YVONNE BROWN

Yvonne Brown works at St. Lawrence College in Kingston as an International Admissions Officer. In 2012, she founded Ontario Women Anglers and is a strong advocate for getting women and children outdoor and on the water. As an ambassador for the Keep Canada Fishing initiative, she promotes National Fishing Week and licence-free fishing days at every opportunity. Yvonne has also been an instructor at the OFAH Women’s Outdoor Weekend for the past 7 years writes for a number of outdoor publications and is an avid turkey hunter. In 2016, Yvonne became the first female to receive the Rick Amsbury Award of Excellence, presented by the Canadian Angler Hall of Fame, for her contributions to the sport.

LEN DICKINSON

Leonard Dickinson retired as Acting Director of the Computer Services Division with Revenue Canada. He is an Instructor/Examiner with Ontario Hunter Education, Canadian Firearms Safety, Ontario Wild Turkey, International Bowhunter Education and Canadian Safe Boating. Mr. Dickinson is a member of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (Zone F), co-founder of the Eastern Ontario Deer Management Advisory Council, President/CEO of Safari Club International Foundation Canada, serves on the Board of Directors for the SCIF Education/Sables and is a Master Mason in the Masonic Lodge. He holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies degree from the University of Waterloo.

JIM GREENWOOD

Jim Greenwood is a former Conservation Officer of Resource Technician and Deputy Conservation Officer for the Ministry of Natural Resources. His community involvement includes serving as President for the Long Point Area Fish and Game Club.

BRENT MCNAMEE

Brent McNamee was previously CEO of Fresh Air Educators in Ottawa, ON with well known flagship brands BOATERexam.com and HUNTERcourse.com Brent worked closely with Fish and Wildlife agency clients across Canada, USA and Oceania providing progressive hunter education solutions. Brent grew the company internationally over two decades with 50+ employees and sold to a private equity firm in 2017. Brent is an Ontario Hunter Safety Instructor, Canadian Firearms Instructor, licensed Trapper and accomplished big game hunter including completing his Grand Slam of the North American Wild Sheep in 2018. His community involvement includes serving as a volunteer for Ducks Unlimited Canada, Scouts Canada and Hockey Canada.
