Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario
JOANNE DELAURENTIIS
Joanne De Laurentiis is an experienced, senior executive and Board member. Retired as President & CEO of the Investment Funds Institute (IFIC), she was also CEO of Credit Union Central of Canada, Mondex Canada & Interac Corp, Vice-President, Public Affairs for the Canadian Bankers Association, and chief of staff to a Minister in the Ontario Government. She currently serves on the Board of the TTC as Vice-Chair, PIMCO Canada Independent Review Committee (IRC) as Chair, as as a Member of: the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario, Peak Financial Advisory Council, , Canada Life Investment Management Ltd IRC, and the Canadian Foundation for Economic Education. She holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from Western University.
JOSEPH IANNICELLI
Mr. Joseph Iannicelli has extensive experience in the financial services industry, serving as President and CEO for the Standard Life Insurance Company of Canada from January 2005 until February 2012. As head of a subsidiary of a UK parent company, Mr. Iannicelli dealt with financial services regulators in both Canada and the United Kingdom. He also served as CEO of Banyan Healthcare Services and as a strategic and management consultant with a Canadian public pension plan. Joseph has also served on the boards of Smart Employee Benefits Inc., Canadian Spirit Resources, Inc. and Groupe Bikini Village Inc. Joseph Iannicelli is currently the President of PLAY 2 WIN Inc., a company that produced the Indie feature film, Crimson Sands, that has won numerous Canadian and international awards. In addition, as a certified yoga teacher and Reiki healer, through a sub-brand, Body By Yoga, Mr. Iannicelli offers yoga instruction and Reiki healing. He is an executive and life coach and is finalizing the publication of his debut novel, Unleash Your Best Self. Mr. Iannicelli has been recognized for several business achievements, including being named Top 5 Influential Business Leader in Quebec for four straight years (2009-2012).
PEGGY MCCALLUM
Peggy McCallum is a former partner and currently counsel at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP. She was previously senior legal counsel to the former Pension Commission of Ontario. She has practiced pension and benefits law for over 35 years, and chaired Fasken's pension and benefits law group for many years. Peggy served on the Sponsors Committee of the Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology (CAAT) Pension Plan for 12 years and on the executive committee of the Ontario Bar Association's Pension and Benefits Section for many years. Prior to law, Peggy was an award-winning journalist with The Globe and Mail. She has an honors journalism degree and a law degree from the University of Western Ontario, as well as a Chartered Director designation from McMaster University.
LUCIE TEDESCO
Lucie Tedesco is a Strategic Advisor and Counsel in McCarthy Tétrault’s Banking and Financial Services Regulatory Group. She is the former Commissioner of the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) with close to 30 years’ experience in financial sector policy and regulation and an in-depth understanding of the operations of Canada’s safety net agencies, including the Bank of Canada, Department of Finance, Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI), and Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC).
STEWART LYONS
Stewart Lyons is the CEO of Bird Canada, the Canadian licensee of the world’s leading e-scooter provider and is on the Board Member at both Borrowell and Avante Logixx (TSXV: XX). Stewart is a nationally recognized business leader and previously was the SVP — Emerging Business at SiriusXM Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: SIRI), focused on building and growing Automatic Labs, a San Francisco-based subsidiary that develops software and hardware that monetizes data in the connected vehicle space. Previously he was CEO of TeraGo Networks Inc. (TSX: TGO), a national IT solutions company which he grew into the largest Canadian cloud provider. Previously, Mr. Lyons was the co-founder and President of Mobilicity, a national wireless telecom company that grew to serve 300,000 subscribers in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, and Ottawa and was subsequently sold to Rogers Communications for $465 million. Prior to Mobilicity, Stewart co-founded Sirius XM Canada which exited to the public markets and had an enterprise value of almost $1 billion. In 2011, CaIdwell Partners International named Mr. Lyons as one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40. Mr. Lyons was also selected as one of Western University’s Extraordinary Alumni”, University of Toronto’s ‘People who make a Difference” and has been frequently profiled in multiple national publications such as the Globe and Mail, the National Post and others. Stewart has an MBA from the University of Toronto, an LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School, and is a lawyer and member of the Law Society of Ontario. He is also a member of the Young President’s Organization (YPO).
DEXTER JOHN
Dexter is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Gryphon. Dexter is responsible for the North American business where he leads a team of experienced governance and financial professionals. With over 25 years of experience in capital markets, Dexter has a strong knowledge of corporate law and a thorough understanding of financial markets. From his work at a major Canadian law firm to his tenure at the Investment Dealers Association, Ontario Securities Commission and the Toronto Stock Exchange, Dexter has a strong public equities market background as well as significant regulatory experience. Dexter holds the ICD.D designation and is currently a director of Organigram Inc., and recently was a chairman of the board and board member of Partners Real Estate Investment Trust. Dexter received his law degree from Queen’s University and holds a Mathematics for Commerce degree from York University.
ALI SALAHUDDIN
Ali Salahuddin is a senior financial services executive focused on investment management and capital markets. He has built and grown large global businesses and has led sizable international teams with a presence in all major financial centres. Ali has worked in New York, London, and Toronto, and has held senior executive roles with major global financial institutions such as Citigroup, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Bank of Nova Scotia, Royal Bank of Canada, Manulife, and Laurentian Bank. Currently Ali is Founder and President of AS Management Corp., a boutique executive coaching firm. Ali has a BA (Mathematics) from Franklin and Marshall College, a M.Sc. (Mathematics) from University of Toronto and an MBA (Finance) from the University of Toronto Rotman School of Business. He holds a Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation and is a Certified Corporate Director (ICD.D). Ali resides in Toronto with his family.
ROBERT WELLSTOOD
Rob Wellstood retired in 2021 from the role of President and Chief Executive Officer of Kawartha Credit Union Limited, one of the 10 largest credit unions in Ontario. During his time in the post, Kawartha grew 8-fold. Prior to taking on the Chief Executive Officer role in 2002, Rob was Kawartha's Controller for nine years. Rob has served on Boards in the not for profit and financial sectors and many industries advisory committees. He holds a Certified Public Accountant designation from the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario and a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo. He spent 10 years in public practice, first working for a national Chartered Accounting firm. Then he worked in partnership with a family-owned practice and spent two years as a commercial lender with the Business Development Bank of Canada, prior to joining Kawartha.
