Walkerton Clean Water Centre

MIKE SMITH

is formerly employed at the Bruce Nuclear Power Development. Twenty-three years in Operations at the Bruce Heavy Water Plant and sixteen years as a Senior Chemical Operator. Last ten years at site spent in the Nuclear Safety Training department developing and delivering safety training to plan personnel. Mike was elected as Municipal Official for twenty-seven years, Mayor of Saugeen Shores twelve years and Bruce County Warden 2010 and 2011. Member of a number of Committee’s and Boards, Grey Bruce Public Health Unit (Chair), Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority, Saugeen Shoes Police Services Board (Chair), Bruce Community Development Corporation Board.

SCOTT CARTER

Scott Carter has returned to university to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration in Energy Management, former Senior Environmental Project Manager for JL Richards and Associates Sudbury, Manager/Director of Operations for MV Transportation Canada, and Capital Projects Delivery Program Manager for Ontario Clean Water Agency.

NOEL KERIN

Noel Kerin is a self-employed medical doctor. Noel’s community involvement includes formerly serving as a board member for Occupational and Environmental Medicine Association of Canada (EMAC).

ALAN BOUCHER

Alan Boucher is the owner of Joyful Homecare Inc., and a former Director of Human Resources and Safety for Unicco Facility Services. Alan’s community involvement includes serving as a volunteer for the YMCA.

KIMBERLY MITCHELL

Kimberly Mitchell is from Corner Brook, Newfoundland and is a member of the Qalipu Mi’kmaq First Nation. Kim holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland & Labrador and a degree in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering from the University of Waterloo. Indigenous culture and experience have been an interest in Kim since she was very young. Kim has an interest in ensuring access to clean water for all Indigenous people.

MITCH TWOLAN

Mitch Twolan served as Mayor of the Township of Huron-Kinloss from 2004-2022. Mitch is the Broker of Record and owner of Lake Range Realty Ltd., in Point Clark and Kincardine. His community involvement includes serving as President for Point Clark Kinsmen and coaching minor hockey.

ANN MULVALE

Ann Mulvale resident of Oakville. A Canadian by choice; grateful for all opportunities to server - variety of capacities in volunteer, elected and paid leadership capacities. Past Mayor of Oakville/Regional Councillor Halton, President of AMO., Association Municipalities of Ontario; Board Member of FCM., Federation Canadian Municipalities, Board of OMERS - Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System. Executive Director of Oakville United Way &, as a volunteer, Campaign Chair 2008/9. Past Warden of St. Jude's Anglican Church. On the Board of the Waterfront Regeneration Trust. A history of engagement with Inter-Faith Gatherings for Women, fundraising for numerous not for profits locally and internationally; serve on Radius Golf Tournament. Part owner of Soleil Salon & Spa with a focus of assisting persons on journey with cancer. Principal of Avancez Enterprises; adding value to the goals of others. Strives to grow in & live out, faith journey daily.

STEPHEN SPITZIG

Stephen Spitzig is employed as an accountant in public practice with the Baker Tilly branch in Walkerton. He has been serving the farming and business community around the Walkerton area for more than 32 years. He received his Chartered Professional Accountant designation in 2014 and has had his Certified Management Accountant designation from the Society of Management Accountants of Ontario since 1999. Mr. Spitzig also has an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. Born and raised in the town of Chepstow, Ontario, Mr. Spitzig has strong ties to the Walkerton area and supports the community through his volunteer service with various organizations.
