Function

The Local Distribution Company (LDC) Advisory Panel (‘Panel’) will provide strategic advice to the Minister of Energy and Mines on how to ensure the distribution sector is positioned to meet future challenges while continuing to deliver reliable and safe electricity. The Panel will focus on strategies to ensure the sector is positioned to keep pace with rising electricity demand while continuing to deliver high customer standards and distribution services that are safe, reliable, and resilient. The Panel is expected to provide their final recommendations to the Minister by the end of October 2025.

Membership

This Minister will appoint up to four panel members, including a Chair.

Term

The Panel is expected to complete its work between July 2025 and October 31, 2025.

Meetings
Panel members are expected to participate in meetings with the Ministry at least bi-monthly as the panel work progresses. Panel members shall discuss and agree upon the number of meetings required to meet the deliverables.
Remuneration

For their advice provided to the Government of Ontario, Panel members will be paid at a per diem rate of $398 for a maximum of 100 days. Reasonable work-related expenses may be reimbursed in accordance with the Travel, Meal and Hospitality Expenses Directive.
