Background

Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing Act (opens a new window)

Function

The Transition Board, including a designated Chair, will provide confidential recommendations to the Minister on transitional matters to address restructuring matters to support an orderly dissolution of the Region of Peel and transition to new municipal structures by January 1, 2025. 

Membership

The Minister may appoint up to five persons to the transition board, or any other number as may be prescribed in regulations, and may appoint one person as chair.

Term

The term of appointment will commence on July 5, 2023 and end on June 1, 2025.

Meetings

The transition board with the Minister and select ministry staff on a monthly basis, or as requested, to discuss progress updates.

Remuneration

The members of the transition board will be remunerated at a rate of $1200 per diem up to a maximum of 320 days, and the Chair will be remunerated at a rate of $1500 per day up to a maximum of 320 days.
