- Function
The Panel will produce a report to provide the Ministry of Energy with the cross-sector insight and expertise needed to develop an effective pathway to improved long-term planning to address increasing electrification and the transition to clean energy. Integrated planning will benefit both ratepayers and companies by creating a more predictable investment environment, making energy more affordable and Ontario more competitive.
- Membership
The Panel is comprised of up to three (3) members to be appointed by the Minister, and the Minister shall designate one (1) member as Chair.
- Term
The members of the Panel, including the Chair, shall serve at the Minister’s pleasure for a period not extending beyond December 31, 2023.
- Meetings
- Meetings would be scheduled as the Chair deems necessary for the Panel to accomplish its duties and purposes.
- Remuneration
For their advice provided to the Government of Ontario, Panel members will be paid a per diem rate of $1,000 for the Chair and $723 per member (total remuneration cap $150,000 and $72,300, respectively). Reasonable work-related expenses may be reimbursed in accordance with the Travel, Meal and Hospitality Expenses Directive.
