- Function
The Committee will advise the Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development on the viability, design and implementation of a portable benefits strategy in Ontario.
- Membership
The Lieutenant Governor in Council shall appoint up to five members and designate one member as Chair.
- Qualifications
Members of PBAC will possess specialized expertise, including but not limited to the structure and administration of benefit and pension plans, financial issues more broadly, and/or workplace issues.
General qualifications the members will possess include demonstrated experience in making complex decisions and working in multi-disciplinary and collaborative environments, interpreting legislative and regulatory frameworks or policies, and demonstrated analytical, conceptual, problem-solving, and writing skills. They will possess strong knowledge, expertise and reputation within their respective area and have experience in facilitating consultations and engagement with a diverse and highly complex group of stakeholders. They will also need to possess experience in writing reports and recommendations to inform program and policy development.- Term
Members shall be appointed at pleasure for terms not exceeding 18 months and be reappointed at pleasure for terms not exceeding 12 months for the extended period.
- Meetings
- Regular meetings between the Committee and ministry will be held to monitor progress.
- Remuneration
The Chair shall be remunerated at the rate of $723 per day, up to a maximum of 236 days, and a maximum of 190 days for the extended period. The other members shall be remunerated at the rate of $500 per day, up to a maximum of 216 days, and a maximum of 160 days for the extended period. Appointees are eligible to be reimbursed for work-related expenses in accordance with the Travel, Meal and Hospitality Expenses Directive and any other TB/MBC directives.
