Function

The PLDF helps the province, municipalities, developers, businesses and community groups resolve issues related to growth management, land use and infrastructure planning, and environmental protection by providing impartial facilitation services or by acting as a negotiator on behalf of the province. The new agency was made operational on October 1, 2020.

Membership

Up to five appointees. The Provincial Land and Development Facilitator is the Chair of the agency. Up to four Deputy Facilitators may be appointed members. 

Qualifications

Extensive senior government management experience (e.g. provincial and municipal government levels); executive level business and political acuity.

Term

No term limit in legislation.

Meetings
As needed.
Remuneration

The Chair receives a $1200 per diem up to $280,800 annually. Deputy Facilitators receive a per diem of $1,000 up to $234,000 annually.  Appointees are reimbursed for work-related expenses in accordance with the Travel, Meal and Hospitality Expenses Directive.
