Function

Ontario offers several business risk management (BRM) programs to help producers manage business risks in agriculture. If you disagree with how a BRM program rule is applied to your application, you can request a review by the Business Risk Management Review Committee (BRMRC). The BRMRC reviews requests and makes non-binding recommendations to the delivery agent. It can consider review requests under: (a) AgriStability; (b) Ontario's Risk Management Program; (c) Ontario's Self-Directed Risk Management Program; (d) Ontario Wildlife Damage Compensation Program; (e) AgriRecovery; (f) any other BRM program assigned by the Lieutenant Governor in Council or the minister.

Membership

The BRMRC consists of a chair, one or more vice-chairs and at least 3 members. The minister appoints all members.

Qualifications

Candidates should have in depth knowledge of at least one sector of the agricultural industry in Ontario and an understanding of the context in which BRMRC operates. Knowledge of Business Risk Management programs is considered an asset.

Term

Appointments are for up to 3 years and may be reappointed at the minister's discretion.

Meetings

The BRMRC meets as needed and will only consider a review request if it has quorum.

Members are remunerated according to Schedule A, Level 2 of the Agencies and Appointments Directive
