The Ontario Research Fund Advisory Board will: a) ensure that research proposals that are submitted to the Ontario Research Fund and the Early Researcher Awards program are assessed by a peer review panel established by the Minister on the basis of criteria established by the Minister; b) review research proposals that have been assessed by a review panel and make recommendations to the Minister as to which of those proposals, in the opinion of the Advisory Board, merit funding based on criteria and priorities established by the Minister; and c) provide such other assistance as may be required.
The Ontario Research Fund Advisory Board will consist of not more than 12 members to be appointed by the Minister. The Minister shall designate one member to be the Chair and one member to be the Vice-Chair. The Minister may designate Deputy Ministers other than the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Research and Innovation to be ex-officio voting members of the Advisory Board.
Members shall be appointed by ministerial letter for a term of up to 3 years renewable at the Minister's option. Members shall be entitled to receive remuneration of all reasonable expenses incurred in the performance of their duties.
- Between 6 to 8 meetings per year.
Appointees are eligible to receive expenses.
