Background

Venture Ontario Act, 2008 (opens a new window)

Function

The Corporation: makes, holds, administers and otherwise deals with the limited partnership interest of the Government of Ontario in venture capital funds; manages and operates the Ontario Emerging Technologies Fund; and, carries out any other objects prescribed by regulation.

Membership

The members of the Corporation consist of the members of its board of directors. The Lieutenant Governor in Council appoints a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 12 directors, and designates one director as chair of the board and at least one other director as vice-chair of the board.

Term

Although there is no specific limitation in legislation, each member will generally serve on the board for a period of three years.

Meetings

The board of directors is expected to meet on a quarterly basis (but not less than twice per year).

Remuneration

Appointees are remunerated according to Schedule A, Level 2 of the Agencies and Appointments Directive.
