Function

The Custody Review Board exercises jurisdiction under the Child and Family Services Act and Part V of the Ministry of Correctional Services Act to review and make recommendations about placements or transfers of young persons held in detention or custody and to review denials of a temporary absence from a place of custody. The Custody Review Board is designated as part of an adjudicative tribunal cluster by regulation made under the Adjudicative Tribunals Accountability, Governance and Appointments Act, 2009.

Membership

Members of the Custody Review Board are appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council. All members are cross-appointed to the Child and Family Services Review Board and some are cross-appointed to other tribunals within Tribunals Ontario.

Term

Members are appointed for a term specified by the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

Remuneration

Appointees are remunerated according to Schedule B of the Agencies and Appointments Directive
