Function

The Child and Family Services Review Board has jurisdiction under the Child and Family Services Act and the Education Act to hear applications and appeals of matters affecting children, youth and families. These include: emergency secure treatment admissions; school expulsions; adoption refusals; inter-country adoption denials or restrictions; removals of Crown wards from long term foster care placements: and complaints about children's aid societies. The Child and Family Services Review Board is designated as part of an adjudicative tribunal cluster by regulation made under the Adjudicative Tribunals Accountability, Governance and Appointments Act, 2009.

Membership

Members of the Child and Family Services Review Board are appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council. All members are cross-appointed to the Custody Review Board and some are cross-appointed to other tribunals within Tribunals Ontario.

Term

Members are appointed for a term specified by the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

Remuneration

Appointees are remunerated according to Schedule B of the Agencies and Appointments Directive
