Function

The board is responsible for the administration of the Public Service Pension Plan (PSPP), the investment of the Public Service Pension Fund and the adjudication of the plan.

Membership

The Lieutenant Governor in Council appoints at least four members, at least one of whom is representative of plan members who are also members of a bargaining agent with whom the employer has a collective agreement. The Lieutenant Governor in Council may designate a chair and one or more vice-chairs from among the members. If the Lieutenant Governor in Council does not designate a chair or a vice-chair within one month after the position becomes vacant, the board may elect a chair and one or more vice-chairs from among the members.

Term

A board member serves for a term not exceeding three years and is eligible for reappointment. A member elected as chair or vice-chair sits for a term concurrent with the term of his or her appointment as a member of the board.

Meetings

The full board meets six or seven times a year. Members may also serve on committees which sit six or seven times a year.
