Function

The Associate Judges Remuneration Commission conducts inquiries and makes non-binding recommendations to the President of the Treasury Board regarding the remuneration of Ontario Associate Judges (provincially appointed judicial officers). The Commission's report is submitted to the Lieutenant Governor in Council for a response.

 

Membership

The Commission consists of a single Commissioner selected by the association representing the Associate Judges and the Minister of Government Services. The Minister appoints the Commissioner.

Term

The term of office for the first Commissioner begins on July 1, 2012 and ends on September 30, 2015. Thereafter the term of office will begin October 1 in every fourth year commencing on October 1, 2015.

The Commissioner is eligible for reappointment. Should the Commissioner's term expire after a matter is referred to the Commission for inquiry, but before the Commission has submitted its report with respect to the inquiry, and the Commissioner is not reappointed the term is deemed

Remuneration

The Commissioner of the Associate Judges Remuneration Commission has their remuneration fixed by the Management Board.
