Function

The council of the association is the board of directors of the Ontario Professional Foresters Association whose affairs it manages and administers.

Membership

The council is composed of a) at least nine and no more than fifteen persons who are members of the Association and are elected by the members of the Association in accordance with the by-laws; and b) at least four and no more than seven persons who are not members of the Association and who are appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council, and whose numbers on the council shall represent at least one-third of the total number of members.

Term

The term of office for members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council is not more than three years. Members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council are eligible for reappointment, may not serve more than two consecutive terms and continue to hold office after the expiry of his or her term until he or she is reappointed or his or her successor is appointed. Elected members are appointed for the term provided by the by-laws.

Meetings

The executive council normally meetings 4 face to face meetings as well as hold 3 teleconfrence calls. Subcommittees (e.g., registration, displinary, compliants committees) also meeting numerous times throughout the year (approximately 4 to 10 times a year, includes teleconferences)

Remuneration

Appointees are remunerated according to Schedule A, Level 2 of the Agencies and Appointments Directive.
