Function

The committee advises on the scientific steps necessary for developing a suitable vaccine against rabies and an effective system for vaccinating wild animal populations.

Membership

The Lieutenant Governor in Council appoints a chair and eight members.

Term

There is no limitation in legislation.

Meetings
The committee meets two to three times a year, with some occasionally by teleconference. Meetings are usually held in Peterborough or Guelph.
Remuneration
Appointees to the Rabies Advisory Committee are remunerated according to Schedule A, Level 2 of the Agencies and Appointments Directive. Appointees who are members of the Ontario Public Service do not receive remuneration.
