Background

Condominium Management Services Act, 2015, s. 11 (opens a new window)

Function

The Condominium Management Regulatory Authority of Ontario (CMRAO) administers the Condominium Management Services Act. This includes administering the mandatory licensing for all condo managers and condo management providers, maintaining a list of all licensed condo managers in the province, dealing with complaints or Code of Ethics violations, holding discipline hearings and taking corrective actions.

Membership

CMRAO is governed by a 7 member Board of Directors. The Minister appoints three directors to the board. Directors other than those appointed by the Minister are elected by the members of the Board.

Term

Members appointed by the Minister serve for a term of up to 3 years and may be reappointed.

Meetings

There are at least four (4) meetings per year of the Board. Additional Meetings of the Board may be held at any time provided that forty-eight (48) hours written notice of such meeting is provided to each Director.

Remuneration

Appointees are paid by the Board.
