Function

The Tribunal is an adjudicative body which holds hearings on proposals/decisions of the Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario which may be reviewed or appealed.

Membership

The Tribunal consists of not fewer than nine members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council who also designates the term of the appointment and the Chair and two Vice-Chairs of the Tribunal from among the members. All Tribunal members are part-time appointments.

Term

There is no limitation in legislation.

Meetings

The tribunal meets quarterly and may hold additional meetings as required.

Remuneration

Appointees to the Financial Services Tribunal are remunerated on a per diem basis as follows: Chair: $350 + retainer; Vice-Chair: $250 + retainer; Member: $472. Certain expenses may be reimbursed, subject to Ministry policy.
