Function

The REDAP is responsible for providing non-binding advice, in the form of recommendations, to the Minister on applications for funding under: (a) the Rural Economic Development Program (REDP); (b) Programs under the REDP; or (c) any other program that the Lieutenant Governor in Council or the Minister assigns to the REDAP.

Membership

The REDAP consists of a maximum of fourteen members appointed by the Minister, including a chair and at least one vice-chair. The Minister may select up to two members to act as vice-chairs.

Qualifications

Candidates require knowledge of economic development theories and practices and their impacts on rural communities. Knowledge of at least 1: indigenous peoples; not-for-profit sector; or accounting / audit expertise is an asset.

Term

Members are appointed for a term of up to 3 years and are eligible for reappointment at the Minister's discretion.

Meetings
On an "as needed" basis.
Remuneration

Appointees are eligible to receive expenses.
