- Roles and Responsibilities
The REDAP is responsible for providing non-binding advice, in the form of recommendations, to the Minister of Rural Affairs on applications for funding under:
(a) the Rural Economic Development program, including the Rural Ontario Development (ROD) Program or;
(b) any other program that the Lieutenant Governor in Council or the Minister assigns to the REDAP.
The REDAP is classified as an Advisory Agency. The primary function of an Advisory Agency is to provide information and/or advice to government, including advice to assist in the delivery of programs.
The panel comprises up to 14 members appointed by the Minister, including a chair and at least one vice-chair. The Minister may select up to two members to act as vice-chairs.
Key Duties
Prepares for and participates in meetings related to the ROD Program, in a manner consistent with the policies and procedures developed by the Panel.
Attends and participates in meetings of the Panel, as well as participating in working groups related to the work of the Panel, as requested.
Reviews and analyzes ROD application materials and participates in making fair and impartial recommendations based on the evidence provided.
Performs other responsibilities as agreed to with or as delegated by the Chair.
Successful candidates will be required to complete a Criminal Record Check and a Personal Disclosure and Conflict of Interest Form for Public Appointment Candidates.

- Qualifications
Panel members are required to have the following abilities, skills, and knowledge to carry out their responsibilities effectively, including:
· A thorough understanding of rural economic development and the importance and impact of economic development activities on rural communities;
· Knowledge of at least 1 of the following: Indigenous peoples; not-for-profit sector; or accounting / audit expertise is an asset;
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills enabling the candidate to manage the process of the panel, work closely with ministry staff and communicate with panel members and the panel Chair and Vice-Chair(s);
· Integrity and a commitment to the protection of the public interest within the mandate of the panel;
· Commitment to respect diversity and inclusion and to maintain fair, transparent, and accessible processes;
· In addition, Panel members will be required to maintain knowledge of the Ontario Public Service policies and directives directly related to the position through the direction of the ministry;
NOTE: Individuals who are in the public service of Ontario or an employee of a municipality or Registered Code Agency are not eligible to serve as members of the Panel.

Meet as required
This position will involve a commitment to attend approximately two to three meetings per year, most of which are teleconferences. Other meetings may be called as required. - Expenses

Yes
Members do not receive remuneration for their services. Appointees will receive reimbursement for reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out committee duties in accordance with the relevant directives, guidelines and policies of the Treasury Board and Management Board of Cabinet. Expenses are subject to review by the Integrity Commissioner of Ontario and will be posted on the Ministry of Affairs public website.
