The Pay Equity Hearings Tribunal is seeking to appoint an individual to serve as a Member, Representative of Employees. As a Member, Representative of Employees, you will sit on a panel with the Presiding Officer or Deputy Presiding Officer (neutral) and a Member representative of employers and adjudicate disputes arising under the Ontario Pay Equity Act. You will participate in the conduct of hearings as assigned to you by the Presiding Officer, in accordance with applicable legislation and Tribunal procedures and rules of practice, reviewing all evidence and rendering decisions that are independent and free of outside influence.
The Pay Equity Hearings Tribunal (PEHT) is a quasi-judicial, administrative tribunal responsible for adjudicating disputes which arise under the Pay Equity Act. Where a party objects to an Order issued by a Review Officer or the Pay Equity Office seeks to establish non-compliance with an Order, the matter comes before the Tribunal. The Tribunal is empowered to confirm, vary or revoke Orders of Review Officers, order a Review Officer to prepare a pay equity plan for an employer's establishment, order adjustments in compensation and require parties to take whatever other actions are necessary to ensure compliance with the Pay Equity Act.
