MARK DEJONG

I, Mark DeJong, was raised on a farm in Northumberland County, starting my career in 1991 with cattle farming. In 1992, I built a 43 horse boarding stable with 100 riding lessons a week, and 6 part/full time employees. Then in 1996, my brothers and I purchased an 800 acre crop farm from my father, eventually growing to 3200 acres. We purchased our father's hog farm in 1998, a 120 sow farrow-to-finish operation. We eventually built new barns, doubling in size and trippling productivity. I have been a director of the Soil and Crop Association, a director of Northumberland Pork Producers for many years, as well as having been President for a final 5 years. Most recently, I was elected President of Northumberland Federation of Agriculture. In my personal life, I have 2 sons who are starting their careers. One is a lawyer, and the other an Industrial Designer. My wife, Lisa, has a Bachelor of Arts degree (Psychology), and is a homemaker. I look forward to my role as a CA Director.
