Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority
ALEX YUAN
Alex Yuan is a pioneering entrepreneur, visionary and community leader. Alex has received several honours and awards, including Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Association of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs; Outstanding Business Achievement award from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce; Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee award and Chinese Canadian Legend award, among others. He founded the S’port for Kids Foundation in 1997 that served Ontario communities for 18 years. The Foundation provided over $1 million for community programs, improved the quality of life for more than 50,000 children and earned the trust and support of regional businesses, national media, politicians, and sports celebrities. His deeply rooted commitment and spirit comes from lessons learned at 16 years of age when his family emigrated from Hong Kong and he experienced the harsh realities of integrating into Canadian life with limited financial resources.
CARMINE DOMANICO
Carmine Domanico is Senior Manager Human Resources – Canada and Asia for GEON Performance Solutions, based in Orangeville, Ontario. Formerly Carmine was President and Chief Executive Officer of Cristal International and Executive Vice-President Atticus Management in Toronto, and Vice-President of Human Resources for CIBC, he has held a number of senior Human Resource global roles previously. A member of the ICD Ontario Chapter Executive Committee. Carmine’s previous professional governance roles include Board Chair of the Central West Local Health Integration Network and Board Chair of the Central West Community Care Access Centre. Carmine completed the Directors Education Program at the University of Toronto and received the Institute of Corporate Directors Designation, ICD.D. He completed his Executive MBA at Rotman School of Business.
ALEX YUAN
Alex Yuan founded a successful medical software development company in 1982. He has served on numerous non-profit boards and as the founder of the S’port for Kids charitable foundation in 1997. Alex has been appointed to key positions on the Ontario Job and Investment Board and the Ontario Medical Association’s Ontario Medical Student Bursary Fund Committee. He also served as a Team Richmond Hill Business Ambassador. Alex has received several honours and awards, including the Outstanding Business Achievement award from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, the Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the ACCE, and recognition from the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond and Platinum Jubilee awards, as well as the Toronto Police Services John Herra Award, among others. Presently, Alex serves as co-chair for the Toronto Police Services Chinese Community Consultative Committee, board member at the Education Quality and Accountability Office, and board chair at the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority.
