Building Materials Evaluation Commission
LEO GRELLETTE
Leo Grellette is currently working as a consultant and subject matter expert on the Ontario Building Code. Prior to this, he served as Director of Building Standards with the City of Vaughan and 16 years with the Town of Aurora as Acting Director of Engineering Services and subsequently as Director of Building Administration. He has served as a member of the Association of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers, Chair of the York Region Chief Building Officials and Director of the Large Municipalities Chief Building Officials. Mr. Grellette has a diploma in Public Administration from the University of Waterloo.
ANDRAS SZONYI
Andra Szonyi is currently the Chief Building Official / Director of Building Standards for the Town of East Gwillimbury. Mr. Szonyi holds a B.A.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo and a Building Science Certificate from the University of Toronto and is currently a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario (P.Eng.) and the Ontario Building Official Association (CBCO). Mr. Szonyi was previously the Chair of LMCBO's Structural Advisory Committee for several years.
DALE KERR
Dale Kerr is a Principal of Kerr Associates Technology Transfer, a firm specializing in communication services in the building industry. Ms. Kerr holds Bachelor of Applied Science and Masters of Engineering degree from the University of Toronto and is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario. She is recognized as a building science specialist of Ontario.
SALEHA HUSSAIN
Saleha Hussain is a Building Engineer with the City of Toronto. She is a former Plans Examiner with the City of Vaughan. Ms. Hussain's community involvement includes serving as a volunteer and member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario. Ms. Hussain holds Bachelor of Applied Science and Master of Applied Science degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Toronto.
GERRY EGBERTS
Gerry Egberts is a professional Engineer with over 30 years' experience and has been President of Egberts Engineering Limited since 1986. He practices structural engineering for buildings, building restoration design, and demolition review. Mr. Egberts was a member of the Building Material Evaluation Commission from 1998 to 2004 and the Building Code Commission from 2004 to 2015. His community involvement includes serving as a member of the property committee with Holy Trinity School and as a member of the planning committee with the Royal Canadian Yacht Club. Mr. Egberts holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees from the University of Toronto and has been a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario since 1977.
CRAIG CUNNINGHAM
Craig Cunningham is a Consultant specializing in fire and building code. He formerly served for 35 years with Toronto Fire Services and as a member of the Building Materials Evaluation Commission Committee (1999-2005). Mr. Cunningham's community involvement includes serving as a member of the Bradford West Gwillimbury Heritage Committee. He attended Seneca College, the Ontario Fire College, the University of Cincinnati (USA) and the University of Toronto.
MICHAELA TATARU
Michaela Tataru is a Building Engineer for the City of Vaughan. She is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario and holds an NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) designation. Mrs Tataru is the Treasurer of the Mechanical Services Advisory Committee, a subcommittee of the Large Municipalities Chief Building Officials group (LMCBO) and she is a Certified Building Code Official (CBCO) with the Ontario Building Officials Association. Mrs. Tataru holds a Master of Mechanical Engineering from the Politehnica University of Bucharest.
ALEX MULHOLLAND
Alex Mulholland is a Chief Building Official in the Town of Bracebridge, and the Co-Chair of the Ontario Municipal Code Interpretation and Advisory Committee. Prior to this, he served as the Deputy Chief Building Official at the Township of Muskoka Lakes, and as the Building Consultant and Plan Review Manager at the Scarborough Building Department. He is a Member of the Association of Architectural Technologists of Ontario and is a Certified Building Code Official with the Ontario Building Officials Association.
KATHERINE RENTSCH
Katherine Rentsch is a Senior Project Manager at C.F. Crozier & Associates Inc. with over 20 years of experience in consulting engineering specializing in onsite sewage system design, investigation and construction supervision for residential, commercial, and industrial developments. Since 2005 Katherine has been a course instructor for the Onsite Sewage Systems Part 8 licensing course through the Ontario Rural Wastewater Centre at the University of Guelph. Katherine is a long-time member of the Ontario Onsite Wastewater Association and is currently serving a three-year term as a Director.
DOUG DURHAM
Doug Durham, of Ottawa, is former Program Manager of the City of Ottawa. He is also former Building Code Consultant and Associate with Halsall Engineering Consultants. His community involvement has included serving as Vice Chair of Ontario Building Officials Association Simcoe Chapter.
JONATHAN O'NEIL
Jonathan O'Neil has 20 years of experience working in the field of Fire and Life Safety. He has been working as a Fire Prevention Officer with the Town of Oakville Fire Department since 2007. He is a Certified Engineering Technologist and Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator. He has also been Certified by the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office as a Fire Prevention and Public Education Officer. He has been qualified as a Building Code Official by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing since 2007.
PAUL PIJAWKA
Paul Pijawka, of Vaughan, is Senior Plumbing Inspector of the City of Richmond Hill. He is also former Plumbing Specialist with the City of Toronto. His community involvement includes serving on technical committee for the CSA.
MARK GREEN
is a Public Health Inspector and Chief Building Official for Leeds Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit. His community involvement includes serving as a Junior Sports Director for the Brockville Legion and as Coach, Assistant Coach, Field Maintenance, & Umpire for Brockville Bunnies Baseball.
