University of Windsor Board of Governors

BRIAN COWELL

Brian Cowell is a Partner at Baker Tilly Windsor LLP. His community involvement includes serving as Vice-President and member of the board of directors for the Windsor and Essex County Humane Society.

JENNIFER ROOKE

Jennifer S. Rooke (nee Simpson) graduated from the University of Windsor in 2002 (Bachelor of Arts, Hons., Criminology and Sociology) and 2005 (Bachelor of Law). Jennifer was called to bar in Ontario in 2006. She started her career at the law firm of Mousseau DeLuca McPherson Prince, LLP and become a partner in 2018. She has a dual practice: family law and federal prosecutions as agent for the Director of Public Prosecutions. Jennifer was also a sessional instructor at the law school (Walsh Negotiation Moot coach) and St. Clair College in the Business and IT Department (family law, family law forms, immigration law, criminal law, and ethics), for many years. She is actively involved in the community and has held many board /director positions including but not limited to the University of Windsor Alumni Association, Hiatus House, Children First, John Howard Society of Windsor, Essex Law Association, and Federation of Ontario Law Associations.

CAROLYN BROWN

Carolyn Brown is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Windsor Detroit Tunnel Corporation and Windsor Detroit Borderlink Limited, the Canadian owner/operator of the Windsor Detroit tunnel. Carolyn is a standards-focused leader with over 20 years of experience working cross border operations with senior officials from all three levels of government in Canada and in the United States. Carolyn is responsible for the strategic leadership of all facets of the tunnel’s business including driving profitability and growth. She is the former Executive Vice President of American Roads LLC and has served on the Board of Directors of the Windsor and Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce, Lakeview Montessori School and Enwin Powerlines Ltd. Carolyn holds a a Master of Arts Degree in Political Science and a Bachelor of Public Administration both from the University of Windsor.

DANIEL ABLESER

Daniel Ableser is a resident of Windsor, Ontario and a practicing lawyer at Kirwin Partners LLP. Mr. Ableser holds a BA from the University of Windsor (Political Science) and an LL.B. from the University of Ottawa. Mr. Ableser practices law primarily in the areas of family law, litigation and municipal law and regularly appears before courts and tribunals across Ontario. Mr. Ableser previously worked for the City of Windsor Building & Development Department and for Elections Canada. He currently serves as a Director of YQG (Windsor International Airport). In addition, he previously served on the City of Windsor International Relations Committee, as a Director of the Essex Law Association and as Vice Chair of the Windsor-Essex Community Benefits Coalition. In his spare time, Mr. Ableser enjoys travelling, having travelled to 53 countries and counting. He also enjoys watching a variety of sports attentively and playing them poorly.
