Rabies Advisory Committee
CATHERINE FILEJSKI
is a Public Health Veterinarian for Ministry of Health. Her community involvement includes serving as a member of Board of Directors for Rabies in the Americas Inc.
CLAIRE JARDINE
Dr. Claire Jardine obtained an MSc in Ecology from the University of British Columbia and DVM and PhD from the University of Saskatchewan. She is currently an associate professor in the department of Pathobiology and the regional director of the Ontario/Nunavut node of the Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph. Her research programs are focused on understanding the ecology of zoonotic pathogens in wildlife populations, in urban, natural and rural areas. She is currently involved in studies investigating antimicrobial resistance, Salmonella, Borelia burgorferi and Leptospira in wild mammal populations.
CHRISTINE FEHLNER-GARDINER
Christine Fehlner-Gardiner is the head of the CFIA Centre of Expertise for Rabies for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), and a former Research Technician and Research Scientist for CFIA. Her community involvement includes serving as Christian Education Coordinator for the North Gower United Church.
EVA NAGY
Eva Nagy is a University Professor Emerita, Department of Pathobiology Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph. She is a veterinary virologist; her research is focusing mainly on avian adenovirus and animal vaccines. She also contributed to studies of at least 15 other animal viruses. Dr. Nagy extensively collaborated with colleagues within the University of Guelph, nationally and internationally. She has over 160 peer reviewed publications, 9 book chapters, over 347 conference presentations and 5 patients. She is the Editor of the Canadian Journal of Veterinary Research. She is an external member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
TYRREL DE LANGLEY
Tyrrel de Langley is a former Regional Medical Director for VCA Canada, President and Chief Executive Officer for Western Ontario Veterinary Consulting, and a former President and Chief Executive Officer for Oakridge Animal Clinic.
KATHY DUNCAN
Kathleen Duncan lives in York region and has worked in the Animal Care, Control and Welfare field for 30 years in Ontario. A current member of the Board of Directors, and former President with the Association of Animal Shelter Administrators of Ontario. Kathy also volunteers locally on school councils.
KEVIN KIEFFER
Kevin Kieffer is Partner at Walkerton Hanover Veterinary Clinic. His community involvement includes serving as a member of the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association, Large Animal Issues Committee and Member Awards Committee.
BRAD GATES
Bradley Gates earned his B.SC. in biology from the University of Guelph. Equipped with a solid background in wildlife biology and behavior. Brad created AAA Gates Wildlife Control in 1984. From the beginning his company was guided by the firm principle that animals deserve to be treated with compassion and that society can learn to live in harmony with wildlife.
