Appointee Biographies

CHAD RICHARDS

Chad Richards was born and raised in the Bruce-Grey region, Chad has been a long-time advocate for the advancement of the health and vibrancy of the local community. Chad was raised in Chesley, Ontario before moving to Ottawa and working for the federal government for nearly a decade. Chad has now moved home to the region and resides in Port Elgin with his wife Samantha. Chad has been active personally and professionally in helping to build up the Bruce-Grey region. His work at the Nuclear Innovation Institute focuses on demonstrating the impact of the clean energy sector across the region while also demonstrating the contribution the region makes to the provincial and national economy. Chad has also served on the Community Council for the Grey-Bruce Ontario Health Team and has been active in several community initiatives. As a Type 1 Diabetic, Chad is passionate about advancing policies that enable health systems to achieve optimal results for patients and providers.

MICHAEL MURRAY

Mike Murray is a senior executive with extensive public, private and not-for-profit sector experience, including significant leadership roles in municipal government. He currently has a private consulting practice providing strategic advice primarily related to municipal issues, strategy and governance. Mike spent much of his career with the Regional Municipality of Waterloo, including 16 years as the Region’s Chief Administrative Officer. In his role as CAO, he led a team of over 3,500 people, with a budget of over $1 billion. He had overall responsibility for all of the Region’s functions including Public Health, Social Services, Public Works, Planning and Development, and all related corporate support functions. Mike has served on the Boards of numerous industry associations and not-for-profit organizations including The Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation, and currently the Sydenham Bruce Trail Club. Mike lives near Walter’s Falls and has a cottage near Tobermory.
