Appointee Biographies

ROBERT CHOPOWICK

Robert is the General Manager of Con-Test, a national laboratory equipment and HVAC testing and certification company based in Ajax, Ontario. He has been with Con-Test since 2004 and also serves in various roles on the standard setting committees of several Canadian and U.S. industry associations. Included among those is the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) subcommittee for the published standard "z316.5 - Fume hoods and associated exhaust systems" for which he is the current Chairperson. Prior to tenure at Con-Test, Robert built a career in finance and banking though a number of positions at various financial institutions including CIBC and TD Bank. He has been active in his community through mentorship, particularly as a youth baseball coach. Many years ago, he made a foray into the political landscape by running as a candidate in a federal election. Robert currently lives in Ajax and has two adult children.

ANULI AUSBETH-AJAGU

Anuli Ausbeth-Ajagu is a Human Resources Professional, with the Certified Human Resource Leader (CHRL), the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designations and a master’s degree in communications. Her expertise includes leadership, coaching, social impact and building great teams. As a black female Canadian citizen, she brings a wealth of knowledge in cross-cultural communication, diversity, people management, and leading with compassion. She is an academic and teaches post-secondary level HR courses as a college instructor. A self-starter and social entrepreneur, she has over fifteen years’ experience managing people for peak performance. She successfully led and managed the operations of a non-profit organization, where she was the founding Executive Director. She also successfully led the change management initiative. Her career spans banking, insurance, and academia. She is an accomplished oral and written communicator and a published author of fiction and prose.

SCOTT STEWART

Scott Stewart, of Cavan Monaghan, is President of Blowes & Stewart Travel Group Ltd. He is also President of Stewart Aviation Ltd. His community involvement includes serving as a volunteer for various community fundraising ventures such as the hospital radiation bunker, homeless shelters, Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters dinners, Ducks Unlimited, and Festival of Trees.

ZOE KARIUNAS

Zoe Kariunas has over 10 years of experience in developmental services both in British Columbia and Ontario where she currently with Community Living Toronto as a Senior Facilitator. She holds Masters of Social Work from the University of Windsor and an Honours B.Sc in Health Sciences from Western University. She worked internationally in France and South Korea before returning to her hometown of Toronto where she currently resides. Zoe has volunteered with Pride Toronto, Habitat for Humanity and animal rescue groups.

JANET LEMIEUX

Janet Lemieux has over 25 years' experience providing Human Resources expertise and creative thought leadership to global and Canadian organizations in all areas of strategic and tactical HR services. Some of her career highlights include: leading the employee transition to a new $1.2 billion hospital facility; leading the People and Culture work streams for the merger of West Park Healthcare Centre with University Health Network; awarded three “CEO Recognition Awards” for strategic change leadership in mergers and divestitures; conceptualized the product and led the cross-functional team that developed the first ADP Canadian HR outsourcing service offering. Janet has been a featured speaker at the annual conferences for both the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario and the National Payroll Institute and has authored several articles on topics including legislative and legal compliance, HR and Payroll outsourcing and operational excellence.
