Ben Smith has been a student leader in both his local community and at the provincial level. He has served as a student trustee with the York Catholic District School Board, as Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Student Trustees Association, and on a Ministry of Seniors and Accessibility’s Standards Development Committee. He is also a Champion with the Learning Disabilities Association of York Region, where he has been an ambassador of the association to students and stakeholders. A graduate of St. Brother Andre Catholic High School in Markham, he is now pursuing studies at Ryerson University.
An OCT certified teacher working with the York Region District School Board. In my role as a high school French teacher, I am currently working with students enrolled in both the Core and International Baccalaureate French Programmes.
Lorie is a bilingual social worker and Educational Development and Digital Learning Specialist in Ottawa. She has a diverse background in mental health, research, trauma intervention, psychotherapy, workshop facilitation, and teaching at the university level. She is a seasoned professional and expert in a variety of multidisciplinary academic and social work settings, including disability, mental health (child, youth, and adult), hospital, crisis intervention, and child welfare. As a recognized professional in her field, she excels at assessing needs and in synthesizing and communicating key information in an engaging manner.
Judy Carter's Indigenous roots come from the Niisaachewan Anishinaabe Nation in Treaty Three and a member of the Adik clan. As a graduate from Algonquin College she has been an Early Childhood Educator for more than 25 years as a Teacher, Director and a full-time professor with Confederation College. As a professor she developed and implement Indigenous early learning in child care for the delivery of the Early Childhood Education curriculum. Retired from her role as the Early Childhood Outreach Work for the Aboriginal Community for the Region of Peel, she has delivered a Ontario Early Years program for Indigenous families, Indigenous training workshops for the Kindergarten teachers in the Peel District School Board and Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board, Sheridan College and the Ontario Early Years teachers and their families. She is also a President Elect of the Rotary Club of Innisfil where she has chaired several community projects over the past 9 years.
