Appointee Biographies

BRIAN O'BYRNE

Prior to joining the Ontario Labour Relations Board as Chair, Brian O’Byrne was a partner in Fasken Martineau Dumoulin LLP, and a former Articling student/Associate/Partner for Fraser & Beatty. Brian’s community involvement includes serving as member on the Board of Directors for Providence Healthcare Foundation.

JOHANNE CAVÉ

Johanne Cavé has been working as a bilingual adjudicator since 2019. She is former Senior Counsel for the Canadian National Railway Company (CN) and Bell Canada, as well as former Counsel for Canada Post Corporation. She is involved in her community.

MAHEEN MERCHANT

Maheen Merchant is a Vice Chair of the Ontario Labour Relations Board. Prior to joining the Ontario Labour Relations Board, she practiced labour and civil litigation, including as in-house counsel for one of the largest construction trade unions in North America. Her community involvement includes serving as a board member for the Daily Bread Food Bank.
