Police Service Board - York (Regional Municipality of)
DAVID BODENSTEIN
Dr. David Bodenstein earned his Honours Bachelor of Science in Pharmacology and Toxicology before completing his PhD in Dr. Andreazza’s laboratory at the University of Toronto in 2023. His doctoral research focused on developing novel therapeutic approaches for mitochondrial dysfunction and brain disease, specifically by modulating mitochondrial biogenesis and transplantation in patient-derived 2D and 3D cellular models. He is now a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Radisic’s laboratory at the University of Toronto and the Toronto General Research Institute, where he focuses on advancing the clinical application of mitochondrial transplantation for cardiac tissue regeneration. Dr. Bodenstein is committed to patient advocacy and community engagement through mentorship with Big Brothers Big Sisters Toronto and various fundraising initiatives, including the Ride to Conquer Cancer with Princess Margaret Hospital and Trek Everest with Markham Stouffville Hospital.
NICK MEMME
Nick Memme was born and raised in Toronto to parents of Italian ancestry. He completed his post‑secondary education at Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology, where he studied Law Enforcement, and later earned a Certificate in Business Administration from Toronto Metropolitan University. Nick joined the Toronto Police Service in September 1977 and retired in August 2011 with the rank of Staff Inspector. A resident of York Region since 1986, he is married and has three children and five grandchildren. Following his retirement, he became self‑employed as the Owner and Director of Concerux Inc. Security Solutions Group. His community involvement has been extensive, including serving as a soccer coach for a team of nine‑year‑old boys with the Glen Shields Soccer Association in 1999, founding the Heart to Heart Charity Ball in support of SickKids Hospital from 1997 to 2007, serving as a member of the B’nai Brith of Canada Human Rights Advisory Council in 2017, and participating as a committee member for the Reena Foundation Gala in 2018.
