Appointee Biographies

TONY GIOVINAZZO

Domenico-Antonio Giovinazzo is Chief Executive Officer at Activa Holdings Inc., and a former Assistant Vice President for Mortgage Portfolios at Sun Life Assurance Co. of Canada. His community involvement includes serving as Chair and Member for Economic Development Advisory Committee at City of Waterloo, and as Member for Uptown Vision Committee.

JIM SCHMIDT

Jim Schmidt is a small business owner operator. He has run his floor care business for the last seven years. Jim formerly worked in the Ministry of Education as a Supervisor for Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) and Waterloo Catholic District School Board (WCDSB). His community involvement includes coaching of minor hockey as a Head coach and assistant coach.

IAN MCLEAN

Ian McLean was appointed President & CEO of the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce in September of 2010. The Chamber is one of the largest Chambers in Ontario with over 1,600 members across Kitchener, Waterloo, and Woolwich Township. Previously, Ian served on Waterloo City Council for seven years and was Chair of the Finance and Stratregic Planning Committee from 2008 to 2010. He has served on the City of Waterloo Audit Committee and was a member of the Waterloo North Hydro Board of Directors. His public service also included a variety of boards and committees, including the Board of the Uptown Waterloo BIA, Waterloo Public Library Board, Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery Board and Waterloo Economic Development Committee. Ian is Chair of McLean & Associates, a consulting firm focused on strategic problem solving, international trade development and business development networking.
