Function

Agents-General are Special Advisors accountable to the Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade. Agents-General are part of the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade’s established international network. They are responsible for providing the government with expert guidance and helping Ontario businesses to attract investment and grow international trade.

Remuneration

Each individual appointed to the position of Special Advisor, Agent-General, shall be entitled to the following remuneration:

  1. Base remuneration of such amount as the Lieutenant Governor in Council may determine.
  2. An annual payment of ten percent of the base remuneration in lieu of pension.
  3. Medical, dental and extended insured benefits, excluding pension, equivalent to those applicable to Senior Economic Officers working abroad on behalf of Ontario.
  4. Reimbursement of reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out the duties of the Special Advisor, Agent-General in accordance with the Management Board of Cabinet’s Travel, Meal and Hospitality Expenses Directive and other applicable directives.
  5. Provision of applicable allowances and premiums, including relocation and accommodation, equivalent to those applicable to Senior Economic Officers working abroad on behalf of Ontario.
