Function

The Ontario Media Development Corporation, commonly known as Ontario creates, focuses on encouraging strategic business partnerships among the converging cultural media industries, including film and television production, book and magazine publishing, sound recording and interactive digital media. In addition to fostering partnerships, the agency seeks to address the distinct challenges each of the cultural industries faces in domestic and international marketplaces.

Membership

The Lieutenant Governor in Council appoints not more than seventeen members and designates one of the members as chair and one as vice-chair. In the case of the absence or illness of the chair or there being a vacancy in the office of the chair, the vice-chair, or if there is no vice-chair available, the member of the board designated by the Minister for the purpose, shall act as and have all the powers of the chair.

Term

Members serve for a term not exceeding three years and are eligible for reappointment.

Meetings

The board of directors of the corporation meets at least four times in each year.

Appointees are remunerated according to Schedule A, Level 1 of the Agencies and Appointments Directive
