The commission maintains, preserves and enhances the beauty and surroundings of the Horseshoe Falls and the Niagara River from Fort Erie to Niagara-on-the-Lake for the enjoyment of current and future visitors while maintaining financial independence.
The Lieutenant Governor in Council appoints between ten and twelve members of whom four are appointed on the specific recommendation of the councils of the a) Regional Municipality of Niagara, b) the Town of Fort Erie, c) the City of Niagara Falls and d) the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. The Lieutenant Governor in Council may designate a member as chair and a member as vice-chair.
A vacancy may be filled for the remainder of the unexpired term.
- The commission is scheduled to meet every other month.
