Function

The Tarion Warranty Corporation is responsible for administering and enforcing the Ontario New Homes Warranties Plan Act.

Membership

Tarion is governed by a 12 member board of directors. The Minister appoints four members of the corporation to the board of directors. Tarion also has a 5 member Nominations committee. Two individuals are appointed to the nominations committee by the Minister.

Term

The term for each member shall expire (unless there is reappointment, or earlier termination in accordance with the terms of the by-law) three (3) years after the date of appointment or reappointment, as applicable. A member shall serve no more than a total of nine years.

Meetings

The board of directors usually meets at least six times per year. Directors may also serve as members of Committees of the BoardThe board or the Chair of the board has the power to call a special meeting of members at any time.Notice of the time and place of each meeting of members shall be given not less than ten days before the day on which the meeting is to be held.

Remuneration

Appointees are paid by the Board.
