Function: The Committee advises the Public Guardian and Trustee on diversification of investments, investment strategy, custodial services, and other investment issues. The Act also allows the Public Guardian and Trustee to fix the rate of interest payable on funds in the hands of the OPGT, subject to the approval of the Committee.
Membership: Members are appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council. There is no limitation in legislation on the number of members, but the Terms of Reference of the Committee limit membership to nine voting members, who will have a minimum of ten years' experience in investment management, institutional fund management, or the financial services sector.
Term: There is no limitation in legislation, but terms are generally staggered from one to three years.
Meetings: The Committee meets quarterly, in person, in Toronto.
