Function: The Council advises the Minister on policies and programs that will build a strong and stable cultural sector that contributes to a prosperous creative economy and vibrant liveable communities.
Membership: The Lieutenant Governor in Council appoints a maximum of 15 members and designates one member as the Chair.
Term: The members of the Council, including the Chair, serve for a period not exceeding three years, and may be reappointed for a further period not exceeding three years.
Meetings: Three or four times a year.
Requirements: The Council is composed of individuals who: represent the Culture community; have demonstrated their strong commitment to the Culture community; represent a range of regions of Ontario; and reflect a range of ethno-cultural backgrounds and interests, including francophone communities, Aboriginals and youth.
