The Commission generally meets 4 times per year at various locations across the province (e.g., Mississauga, Peterborough), and at the request of the Minister, may hold additional meetings.

•  The Government of Ontario seeks a member to fill a vacancy on the Fish and Wildlife Heritage Commission.
•  Established under the authority of the Heritage Hunting and Fishing Act, 2002, the Commission is an advisory agency whose functions include considering and making recommendations to the Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry on the following matters:
  -  the promotion of practices that will contribute to recreational hunting and fishing being valued by future generations;
  -  the promotion of public participation in fish and wildlife conservation programs;
  -  the promotion of youth participation in hunting, fishing and other fish and wildlife activities;
  -  the promotion of tourism related to hunting, fishing and other fish and wildlife activities;
  -  the promotion of new opportunities for hunting, fishing and other fish and wildlife activities;
  -  any other matter referred to the Commission by the Minister;
  -  the design and establishment of a mechanism to finance matters referred to above; and
  -  the operation of the separate account referred to in section 85 of the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1997.



The successful candidate must:
  -  be knowledgeable about hunting, fishing and other fish and wildlife activities, and promotion of same; 
  -  be able to make objective and impartial recommendations.
  -  have excellent interpersonal skills and experience in participating in meetings; and
  -  have experience in negotiation, facilitation and conflict resolution.

The member is appointed by Order in Council for terms of not more than three years, and is subject to renewal.
Time Commitment:
The Commission meets four times per year typically (2 day meetings) and may hold additional meetings upon request of the Minister.
The member is eligible to receive $150 per diem for Commission work and is reimbursed for eligible expenses in accordance with the Management Board of Cabinet’s Travel, Meal and Hospitality Expenses Directive..
