Art Gallery of Ontario

SARAH SCOTT

Sarah Barlow Scott is publisher of Barlow Books, a non-fiction publisher based in Toronto. Before founding Barlow Books in 2012, Sarah was an award-winning journalist, working mainly for newspapers and national magazines. She has a lifelong interest in art, especially contemporary art, thanks to her mother, Janet Scott, who was a very knowledgeable collector. Sarah lives in Toronto with her husband David Powell. She has a daughter, Zoe Knowles, and a stepson, Jack Powell.

ELEANOR SHEN

Eleanor Shen has been an avid arts supporter and currently serves on the board of Canadian Art Foundation and Soulpepper Theatre Company. She is a founding member of Partners in Art (PIA) and served as Co-Chair from 2008 to 2010. Ms. Shen was a board member of the Power Plant from 2011 to 2015 and a member of the Modern and Contemporary Curatorial Committee of the Art Gallery of Ontario from 2010 to 2015. She also served as a board member of the Child Development Institute from 2005 to 2009 and is currently a member of the Advisory Board. Ms. Shen holds a Master of Business Administration degree and previously worked in the finance industry.

KENNETH MONTAGUE

Kenneth Montague is a Toronto-based dentist as well as an art collector and founder and director of Wedge Curatorial Projects, a non-profit arts organziation that helps promote African Canadian artists. Since 1997, Mr. Montague has been exhibiting contemporary art that explores black identity and the African diaspora, and showcasing these works in his Wedge Collection. Currently he sits on the Africa Acquisitons Committee at Tate Modern in London, UK. He previously served on the Advisory Board of the Ryerson Image Centre from 2011 to 2014 and the Photography Curatorial Committee of the Art Gallery of Ontario from 2009 to 2012. Mr. Montague has also been invited to lecture on contemporary art at The Studo Musuem in Harlem, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC and the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, among other international art institutions.

ANDREW FEDERER

Andrew Federer is a Vice Chairman, RBC Capital markets and is a member of the Global Investment Banking Management Committee. He also previously served as Head of Corporate Finance in Canada. Mr. Federer is a member of the Board of Trustees of The Art Gallery of Ontario, former Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Bishops Strachan School and CO-Chairman of the RBC Capital Markets Foundation.

LESLIE MCCARLEY

Leslie McCarley is a seasoned executive who leads with a background in strategy, leadership, journalism, advertising and philanthropy. A consummate connector. Leslie currently serves as VP, Advancement with CIFAR, where she advances private support for scientific discovery. Leslie is known for her integrated and collaborative leadership style in complex organizations where she has engaged a wide variety of stakeholders to achieve transformation. At Heart & Stroke she created an initiative to engage the next generation of philanthropists and was the driving force behind its ambitious campaign to break the glass ceiling in cardiovascular health care. She has similarly led high profile initiatives to advantage early childhood brand development and Canada's leadership in physics. A native of Toronto, Leslie earned her Master of Public Administration and her Bachelor of Arts in communications and mass communications in Michigan. She further built her expertise with certification from the Indiana University Centre on Philanthropy.

JUDY SCHULICH

Judy Schulich is the Executive Vice-President of The Schulich Foundation, on of Canada’s largest private foundations. She directs the Schulich Leader Scholarship program, the most significant STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) scholarship program in the country, awarding 100 scholarships each year. Prior to her role at The Schulich Foundation, Judy founded and ran Blueprint: DNA, an art consulting company that helped private and public institutions build contemporary art collections. Clients included George Weston Limited, Stikeman Elliott LLP, and St. Michael’s Hospital. Judy is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario with a degree in Honors Business Administration and has a Master’s degree specializing in the art market and connoisseurship from Christie’s, New York.

TAWFIQ POPATIA

Tawfiq Popatia is responsible for Onex Partners’ efforts in Automation, Aerospace and Transportation and is a member of Onex Partners' Investment Committee. Since joining Onex, Tawfiq has led Onex Partners’ investments in WestJet, Advanced Integration Technology (AIT) and BBAM and its related investments in FLY Leasing (NYSE: FLY) and Meridian Aviation. Tawfiq currently serves on the boards of WestJet, AIT, BBAM and Celestica (NYSE:CLS) and previously served on the board of Spirit AeroSystems (NYSE:SPR). He is a Trustee of the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) Foundation and a former Employer Trustee of the International Association of Machinists National Pension Fund. Prior to joining Onex, Tawfiq worked at Hellman & Friedman LLC, a San Francisco-based private equity firm. Previously, Tawfiq worked in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley & Co. and Morgan Stanley Asia Pacific.

MARIANNE GUIZZETTI

Marianne Guizzetti holds a BSc in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto. Marianne has served on several boards and committees in support of healthcare, education and the arts, including the Bishop Strachan School, the Canadian Chapter of the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums, Sinai Health Foundation, Camp Oochigeas and the National Ballet of Canada. She has been a member of the AGO Board of Trustees since 2018 and an active supporter of the museum since joining the Learning Circle, a fundraising initiative, in 2013. Marianne co-chaired the Gallery’s 2017 & 2018 Art Bash! fundraising galas and has also supported the AGO’s Look:Forward project and the Women’s Art Initiative. She is currently vice chair of the AGO’s Education & Programming Committee and Chair of the Philanthropy Working Committee.
