PESTICIDES ADVISORY COMMITTEE


SWITZER, CLAYTON M.
Dr. Clayton Switzer, of Guelph, was raised on a farm in Middlesex County. He attended the Ontario Agricultural College in Guelph, the University of Toronto and received his PhD in plant physiology from Iowa State University. He is a Professor at the University of Guelph and former Dean of the Ontario Agricultural College. He was Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food from 1984 to 1989. He is past president of the Ontario Institute of Agrologists, member of the Agricultural Institute of Canada and Internal Turf Grass Society and a recipient of the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal.


STEPHENSON, GERALD R.
Dr. Gerald Stephenson, of Waterloo, is a Professor in the Department of Environmental Biology at the University of Guelph. He is an author of several books and has contributed to books related to topics such as pesticide biochemistry, pesticides and human health and pest management in agricultural, forestry and landscape environments. He was recently appointed as Director of Education for the Weed Science Society of America and Vice-Chair of the Ontario Pesticides Advisory Committee.


MCKAY, MARY CATHERINE RUTH
Catherine McKay is Integrated Pest Management Consultant, President of The Apple Doctor Ltd., and Owner and Partner of Nature's Bounty Farm. Prior to this, Ms. McKay was an Integrated Pest Management Specialist with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Ms. McKay is a Board member of the Northumberland and Durham Apple Growers and Chair of the Ontario Apple Growers' Research Committee. Her previous community involvement includes the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers' Crop Protection Section and Durham Farm Fresh Marketing Association. Ms. McKay earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture and her Master of Science degree from the University of Guelph.


HUNTER, CRAIG L.
Craig Hunter, of Simcoe, spent almost 28 years with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food, retiring as Program Lead for Crop Protection, and as Provincial Minor Use (pesticides) Co-ordinator. He has been at the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers' Association for five years, continuing to be a strong advocate for grower access to modern, safe and effective pest management tools. He has been at the forefront of the development of the National Minor Use Initiative.


HAMILL, ALLAN STEWART
Dr. Allan Stewart Hamill was a Weed Scientist at the Ministry of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's (AAFC) Greenhouse and Processing Crops Research Centre in Harrow, where he conducted weed management research. Dr. Hamill has held various administrative positions with the Centre, including Assistant Director, Acting Director, and prior to retirement was Acting Research Manager. He was also the Test Site Manager for the Minor Use Registration Program, AAFC. Dr. Hamill has played an integral role in the Minor Use registration of over 100 herbicide treatments for use in tree fruit new plantings, mature orchards, tomatoes, and seed corn. He has authored and co-authored more than 80 refereed papers in various scientific journals, 70 miscellaneous reports and articles, and over 750 technical reports for the Canadian Weed Science Society Research Report.

YAMADA, TERI MISAO
Teri Yamada is the Executive Director of the Integrated Pest Management Council of Canada, and Principal of TY Environmental Strategies, whose mission is to inspire and assist golf courses and other land use managers to use science to minimize environmental impact. With over twenty-five years experience in the Canadian golf industry, Ms. Yamada developed and edited the original Environmental Guidelines for Canadian Golf Clubs in 1993 and 2006. She has served on the United States Golf Association's Green Section Turfgrass and Environmental Research Committee, the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America's Research Committee, the International Turfgrass Society Board, and was Program Chair for the ninth International Turfgrasss Research Conference in 2001.

MARSHALL, DAVID ROSS
David Marshall has been owner and operator of Meri Acres Farm Ltd. since graduating from the Ontario Agricultural College of the University of Guelph in 1974. Mr. Marshall has extensive experience as an agriculturist in Ontario, serving on many boards and committees related to the agriculture industry in Ontario.
