ARMSTRONG, MAUREENDuring her thirteen-year legal career, Maureen Armstrong focused on transforming social justice organizations to meet public needs and expectations. Recently, she was Vice-President of Central and Eastern Region at Legal Aid Ontario, where she worked on the redesign of legal aid service delivery for low-income Ontarians. Ms. Armstrong has extensive experience addressing the needs of victims looking for timely resolution of disputes, having worked many years with the Canadian Human Rights Commission. She earned her Bachelor of Laws degree from Queen's University and was called to the Bar in 1995.
KLEIN, PAULAPaula Klein is a Consultant in addition to operating her own private psychotherapy practice. Ms. Klein spent her early career working with and on behalf of female victims of violence at various Toronto agencies. She has provided public education and professional development programs throughout Southern Ontario on issues relating to violence against women, professional ethics and professional boundaries. Since 2000, Ms. Klein has been a member of the Discipline Committee of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and a Master of Social Work degree.
TASSOU, MARIAMaria Tassou was called to the Ontario Bar in 1998 and has practiced law as a civil litigation lawyer for over ten years with Pallett, Valo LLP. Ms. Tassou received her law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1996. She attended the University of Toronto for her undergraduate studies and was enrolled in the Specialist of Commerce/Management program for three years. While pursuing her undergraduate studies, Ms. Tassou received the Brian David Radford Memorial Scholarship in Management.
STANFIELD, ANNEAnne Stanfield was a secondary school teacher with the North York Board of Education. Ms. Stanfield has served as a member and director of a number of community and educational research organizations, and was a founding President of the Sunnybrook Hospital Volunteer Association. She graduated from the University of Toronto in 1952 and later attended the University of Toronto Faculty of Education.
HUGHES, JO-ANNEJo-Anne Hughes is co-founder and Program Director for the Child Witness Centre supporting the Region of Waterloo, Guelph-Wellington and Brant County. Over the past seventeen years, Ms. Hughes has provided court preparation and support services to child victims, witnesses and their families. She has volunteered with Waterloo Minor Hockey, the K-W Skating Club and Community Justice Initiatives. In 2007, Ms. Hughes received the Attorney General's Victim Services Award of Distinction for outstanding services to victims of crime. She has done several presentations on the topics of child abuse and children dealing with the justice system.
CROCCO, EMILY KATHARINE LOUISEEmily Crocco has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Politics from Brock University and a Bachelor of Laws degree from McGill University. Ms. Crocco has been a Senior Grievance Officer for the Canadian Forces Grievance Board, and Legal Counsel for the Commission for Public Complaints against the RCMP and the Security Intelligence Review Committee.
KURZUK, KIRSTENKirsten Kurzuk immigrated to Canada from Germany, where she was an undercover Police Inspector with the Berlin Municipal Police Force. Ms. Kurzuk then became an entrepreneur in the retail business for women's fashion. She served as member and Chair of the Amherstburg Police Service Board and a member of the Amherstburg Chamber of Commerce. Currently, Ms. Kurzuk is Director of the Multicultural Council in Windsor.
PELLETIER, BONNIEBonnie Pelletier has worked as a Sole Practitioner in the areas of aboriginal law, family law, civil litigation and taxation. She is also certified in Alternative Dispute Resolution and provides mediation services for family law clients. Ms. Pelletier spent her early career working as a Registered Nurse in Thunder Bay and remains licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario. She is a member of the Consent and Capacity Board and a member of the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Ms. Pelletier is currently serving as an Adjudicator for the Indian Residential Schools Adjudication Secretariat.
HARMISON, GEMMAGemma Harmison obtained an Honours degree in Law from Carleton University. From 1995 to 1997, Ms. Harmison worked for a non-profit victims' organization, providing support and services to victims of violent crime. She has made presentations and appeared as a guest lecturer on issues related to victimization at post-secondary institutions, community organizations, and police services. Ms. Harmison has also worked for the Ministry of the Attorney General, Court Services Division, and currently works for a lawyer practicing in the field of family law.
NEWMAN, STANLEY DAVIDStanley Newman has twenty-one years of experience in the Criminal Justice System. Mr. Newman's academic background is concentrated in the field of Psychology and, for six years, he was a Federal Corrections Psychologist. Over the last fifteen years, Mr. Newman has served as a member of various quasi-judicial administrative tribunals.
SPEARS, LINDAFor thirty years, Linda Spears worked in the Justice sector of the Ontario Public Service. Ms. Spears was Special Advisor to the Deputy Solicitor General and Deputy Minister of Correctional Services on Workplace Discrimination and Harassment Prevention. She managed projects and programs related to services for victims of crime in Ontario. Ms. Spears' contributions include the management of the Victim Services Unit for the Ministry of the Solicitor General and Correctional Services and the development of the Ontario Victim Services Secretariat at the Ministry of the Attorney General. Over the years, she has served on a number of community committees and boards.
AKHTAR, MUHAMMAD SALEEMMuhammad Akhtar has served as a Citizenship Judge in the Greater Toronto Area, a teacher, a researcher, a community outreach worker, and a Human Resources professional. Mr. Akhtar has extensive experience in different aspects of administrative law including presiding over courts, and conducting oral and written hearings. Mr. Akhtar has been actively involved in community issues and has served as a volunteer on numerous committees and boards including the Multicultural Outreach Advisory Committee and the Cultural Interpreters' Advisory Committee. Mr. Akhtar is the recipient of a Community Award and holds University degrees in Political Science and History.
CHENIER-CULLEN, NICOLENicole Chénier-Cullen operated her own consulting firm and served as a senior executive at Employment and Immigration Canada and the Canadian Human Rights Commission. Ms. Chénier-Cullen was responsible for the implementation of various new programs and led several legislative reviews with respect to the Immigration Act, the Employment Equity Act, and the Canadian Human Rights Act. Her community involvement included serving as Chair of numerous United Way campaigns and serving on the Boards of Directors of Elmwood School and Ashbury College.
MACEACHEN, JANETJanet MacEachen is currently practising law in private practice in Toronto. Previously, Ms. MacEachen was a Criminal Law Consultant with the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic and Legal Counsel with the Psychiatric Patient Advocate Office and the Ontario Advocacy Commission. She has served as a member of the Board of Beyond Borders, the Board of Directors of Justice for Children and Youth, the Feminist Working Group on the Criminal Justice System, and the Board of Directors of Ernestine's Women's Shelter. In addition, she was a member and President of the Board of Directors of Assaulted Women's Helpline. Ms. MacEachen holds membership with the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, and the Metropolitan Toronto Lawyer's Association.
MCQUADE, CHARLOTTECharlotte McQuade holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Osgoode Hall Law School. Ms. McQuade was called to the Bar in 1994 and has practiced as a staff lawyer in the Legal Clinic system since that time. In the past, Ms. McQuade served as a Board member on a community mental health agency. She also was a part-time instructor with the Law Society's Skills and Professional Responsibility Program in 2006 and 2007.
MEUNIER, JAY GERALDJay Meunier is a Lawyer with the firm of Girones Lawyers. Mr. Meunier received his law degree from the University of Moncton and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1995. He practices in the areas of family law, personal injury, and death cases. Mr. Meunier has been a panel agent with the Office of the Children's Lawyer since 2001. Active in his community, Mr. Meunier volunteers with various non-profit organizations including the Timmins Food Bank. He is a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association and the Canadian Bar Association, and is Treasurer of the Cochrane Law Association.
MSOSA, AGGREY J.Aggrey Msosa has extensive domestic and international experience in the business, public and private sectors. Mr. Msosa was an Executive Director of the Ottawa Festival of Nations, a Manager at Delta Repro Inc., and he also served in the diplomatic service as Deputy Head of Mission for fifteen years. In addition, Mr. Msosa has worked at Statistics Canada, Price Waterhouse Coopers, BPO 2000 Solutions, and LPS Aviation Inc. He has been involved in the community as a volunteer and board member of the African Diaspora Association of Canada, the National Capital Alliance of Race Relations, the Dialogue of Canadians of African Origin, WaterCan, and the Children's Aid Society.
RANGAN, VEDAVeda Rangan is a graduate in Economics and Political Science, and has a Diploma in Social Work. In addition to her employment in the private sector, Ms. Rangan has twenty-four years of experience as an adjudicator with federal and provincial agencies and boards. She was Vice-Chair of the Social Benefits Tribunal of Ontario, member of the National Parole Board, and member of the Immigration and Refugee Board. Ms. Rangan's volunteer work includes the Board of Directors of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, North York Extended Family, the Board of Directors of Jessie's Centre for Teenagers, the Board of Directors of York Region Children's Aid Services, and Indian Immigrant Aid Services.
TELFER, NORMA HYACINTHNorma H. Telfer has over thirty years experience serving on various community and professional organizational boards. Ms. Telfer is an Advisory Board member of the International Association of Administrative Professionals - Ontario Chapter, a member of the Toronto Board of Trade, and the Canadian Society of Training and Development. She is also the President of TelCamTraining Inc. With over fifteen years as a training consultant, professional speaker, facilitator and coach, Ms. Telfer focuses on motivating individuals to achieve their identified goals. She has spoken and conducted workshops on human relations, life skills and leadership. In addition, Ms. Telfer was a contributing author to the
Training Report, a major Canadian training magazine, and the International Association of Administrative Professionals newsletter.
JAMES, JOSEPHThe Honourable Mr. Justice Joseph James retired in 2005 from his capacity as Judge of the Superior Court of Justice in Ontario. Previously, Mr. James was a Judge of the Provincial Court, Family Division and was an appointed Agent of the Attorney General of Canada and Crown Attorney. He has served as President and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Catholic Children's Aid Society of Toronto, President of the University of Toronto Alumni Association, and a member of the External Grant Review Committee of the Hospital for Sick Children Foundation. Mr. James is a member of the Canadian Superior Court Judges Association.
MCTAVISH, WILLSON A.Willson McTavish practiced law with various firms until 1984, when he was appointed Official Guardian for the Province of Ontario. Mr. McTavish served as the Children's Lawyer, responsible to the Attorney General for the delivery of legal services on behalf of children before the courts and tribunals of Ontario. He has written numerous articles for publication and has lectured at many national and international conferences relating to his work as Children's Lawyer. Over the years, Mr. McTavish has served on several boards for various arts and social service organizations in Mississauga.
BERRIGAN, GEORGEGeorge Berrigan, of North Bay, is a retired police officer and past Chief of the North Bay Police Service. His thirty-two year police career included time with the North Bay and Toronto Police Services. Mr. Berrigan is a Life Member of the Canadian and Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police, past Chair of the North Bay Humane Society and past Treasurer of the Gathering Place Soup Kitchen.
SULLIVAN, DAWN ELLIOTTDawn Sullivan, of Ottawa, graduated from Texas State University with a degree in Political Science. She worked for the Office of the Governor and the Attorney General in Texas managing grant funded programs serving victims of violent crime, family violence and sexual assault. Ms. Sullivan was a member of the Ontario Parole and Earned Release Board.
UNTINEN, LENIFor the past twenty-eight years, Dr. Leni Untinen has served as a Coordinator with the Northwestern Ontario Women's Decade Council, where she is responsible for the day-to-day administration and operation of the Council office and coordination of the Council's projects. Dr. Untinen was awarded a Doctorate of Social Work, Honoris Causa, from Lakehead University. She has extensive experience with social justice issues as an Educator and advocate for victims of violence. Recently, Dr. Untinen was a Public Educator for the Elizabeth Fry Society of Northwestern Ontario. She is the author of various publications, articles and videotapes on issues related to family violence and violence against women.
RADMORE, JOHN L.John R. Radmore is a Senior Investigator and Manager in the area of law enforcement. Mr. Radmore has extensive experience in investigation, mediation, report preparation and problem solving. He worked with the Ottawa Police Service as a Background Investigator, responsible for investigating the background of police candidates for the hiring process and was as an Instructor in the Police Foundations Program at Algonquin College. Mr. Radmore is a graduate of Cegep College with a degree in Social Sciences.
LIBER, WILLIAMWilliam Liber is a graduate of the University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall Law School. Mr. Liber practiced law with Gardiner, Roberts in Toronto. He served as a Trustee and President of the County of York Law Association, in addition to his tenures with the Planning Board of the City of Etobicoke and the Board of Management of the O'Keefe Centre for the Performing Arts.

GOULET, BRUCE J.Bruce Goulet served as Alderman, Deputy-Mayor and Mayor of the City of North Bay. Mr. Goulet was a previous member of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, a member of the Social Assistance Review Board, and served on the North Bay City Council and Chamber of Commerce. He provided leadership for a major development project that resulted in the reclamation and revitalization of abandoned railway lines at the City Centre on Lake Nispissing, which has become a major centre for recreational activities and a regional tourist attraction.
MORRA, VIRGINIAVirginia Morra, of Mississauga, has worked in several capacities at Interim Place, a shelter for battered women and children in the Region of Peel, including Director of the Peel Committee Against Women Abuse and as Senior Director at Victim Services of Peel. She has taught at the Ontario Police College and assisted in the design and implementation of the family violence curriculum. Ms. Morra holds a Master of Arts from the University of Windsor and an Honours Bachelor of Arts and Sociology degree with a major on Women's Studies from the University of Toronto.
RAVINDRA, KABIRKabir Ravindra, of Toronto, is a graduate of McGill University's National Law Program, with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Civil Law. Mr. Ravindra earned a reputation for fairness over a number of years practicing personal injury and insurance litigation at a large Bay Street law firm, where he was also very involved in student recruitment and training. Prior to this, Mr. Ravindra was active in the international development field, where his volunteer activities included agricultural and water-use development projects in Uruguay and Senegal
WICKETT, DAWNDawn Wickett graduated from Canadore College of Applied Arts and Technology with a Social Service Worker Diploma. Recently, she was employed with Algonquin Child and Family Services in the School of Mental Health Program, providing mental health intervention to youth within the school setting. Prior to this, Ms. Wicket was employed as a Crisis Intervention Worker at the North Bay General Hospital. She has extensive training in Trauma, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Disruptive Behaviour Disorders, Domestic Violence, Victim Issues/Treatment/Intervention, Management, and Developmental Assets. Ms. Wicket is a Board member of the Community Resource Team for the WrapAround Program in North Bay.
BOYD, PHYLLIS MARIONMarion Boyd graduated from York University with degrees in English and History. From 1984 to 1990, Ms. Boyd was the Executive Director of the Battered Women's Advocacy Centre. She was the elected member of Provincial Parliament for London Centre from 1990 to 1999. In addition, Ms. Boyd served as Minister of Education and Minister of Community and Social Services. In 1993, she became the first woman to be appointed Attorney General for the Province of Ontario. Ms. Boyd was also the Minister Responsible for Women's Issues between 1991 and 1995.
SPADACCINI, ALFIEROAlfiero Spadaccini served with the Nepean and Ottawa Police Service from 1975 until his retirement in 2006. Mr. Spadaccini worked extensively in the field of criminal investigations and managed teams of police investigators in several specialized fields. He has lectured to police, members of the Ontario Bar, and community groups on a range of topics that included investigative techniques, victim and witness issues, ethics in policing, and stress management for undercover police officers. Mr. Spadaccini was educated at Carleton University and Algonquin College in Ottawa, and completed training courses at the Ontario and Canadian Police Colleges as well as the Ontario Provincial Police Academy.
BROTHERS, JOHNJohn Brothers is a Registered Social Worker whose social work career is complemented by in-depth experience in clinical, administrative, academic, and tribunal roles. Previously, Mr. Brothers was the Director of Social Work at Homewood Health Centre in Guelph and was part of the teaching faculty at the University of Guelph and Wilfred Laurier University. Mr. Brothers held positions with the Ontario Review Board and was a member of the National Parole Board. He holds Masters degrees in Social Work and Business Administration from Wilfred Laurier University.
SAUNDERS, SHARON A.For many years, Sharon A. Saunders has been involved in victim issues often serving in a volunteer capacity. She developed and implemented the first police-partnered victim services program in Wellington County as Chair of the Planning/Advisory Committee and Board President. Ms Saunders has assisted with a community crisis and support line as a Program Manager, co-founded a community education initiative, and worked for two supervised access programs in Guelph and Hamilton. She has considerable experience in dealing with mental health and crisis intervention issues and was a trainer for a number of community groups on crisis intervention and suicide prevention.
