Function: The council is the board and governing body of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario whose affairs it manages and administers.
Membership: The council is composed as follows: (a) not less than fifteen and not more than twenty members of the Association who are elected by the members of the Association as provided by the regulations; (b) not less than five and not more than seven members who are members of the Association appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council; (c) not less than three and not more than five members who are neither members of the governing body of a self-regulating licensing body under any other Act nor licensed under this Act, appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council; and (d) the incumbents of offices prescribed by the regulations who are not members of the Council under clauses (a), (b) or (c). A president-elect and a vice-president are elected annually by and from among the members.
Term: Each member is appointed for one, two or three year terms so that, as nearly as possible, a third of the members are appointed each year. When a vacancy arises on the Council, the vacancy shall be filled as soon as practicable by a member of the Association and the member so appointed or elected shall hold office for the unexpired portion of the term of office of the member whose office he of she is elected or appointed to fill.
Meetings: The council meets at least four times a year.
