Function: The board's mandate is to acquire, construct, equip and operate a wholesale fruit and produce market, and operate such facility for the transportation, distribution, and handling of fruit and produce.
Membership: The Lieutenant Governor in Council appoints not more than seven members and designates one member as chair and one as vice-chair.
Term: There is no limitation in the legislation.
Meetings: The board meets approximately 10-12 times a year.
Requirements: Members should be producers, processors, retailers, food service and consumer/nutritionists who are knowledgeable about the agriculture and food industry and have a high degree of experience in farming/food industry.
