Function:  The IESO's responsibilities include a broad range of integrated operations, from grid operations and short-term supply planning, security assessment and scheduling, to real time co-ordination of the power system.

Membership:  The corporation's business and affairs are managed and supervised by its board of directors, which is composed of the chief executive officer and 10 additional individuals appointed by the Minister. The board appoints one of the directors as chair.

Term:  A director appointed by the Minister holds office at pleasure for an initial term not exceeding two years and may be reappointed for successive terms not exceeding five years each.

Meetings:  The board meets approximately once a month.

Requirements:  Each director holds office as an independent director and not as a representative of any class of persons. A person who has a material interest in a market participant is a member of a class and may not hold office as a director.
